Volunteering at The Cycle Project

Volunteering at The Cycle Project offers a powerful way to make a positive impact while gaining practical, real-world skills. Every hour spent supporting community cycling initiatives helps create safer, greener and more connected neighborhoods, all while building confidence and experience that transfer into work and everyday life.
Through hands-on activities, volunteers learn essential bike maintenance and repair skills, from fixing punctures to tuning gears and brakes. These technical abilities not only keep more bikes on the road but also encourage sustainable transport and independent mobility. Working alongside experienced mentors provides structured learning, feedback and the chance to progress at a comfortable pace.
Beyond mechanical skills, The Cycle Project helps develop strong communication, teamwork and problem-solving abilities. Volunteers interact with diverse groups of riders, support community events and learn how to explain complex tasks in simple, friendly language. This combination of practical and interpersonal skills strengthens CVs, opens doors to new opportunities and builds a lasting sense of achievement and belonging.
